Lee has been a Conservative Councillor since 2017, representing the Toton and Chilwell Meadows Ward. Lee is the Chair of the Mental Health Working Group . Lee is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues having personal and family experience of mental health. The cross-party group works with Council Officers and other agencies to promote positive mental health across the borough for residents.

Promoting positive mental health is an absolute priority for me and I aim to be a vocal advocate in promoting positive mental health across the Council.

Mental ill health affects us all

  • One in five of us has a mental health condition at any one time.
  • Around half of people with lifetime mental health problems experience the first symptoms before the age of 14.
  • Only a quarter of people with a mental health condition receive any treatment for it.
  • Nine out of ten people in prison have at least one mental health problem. Almost a quarter of prisoners have a mental illness that requires specialist treatment.
